Bringing Focus to Your Business
By Publisher
How do you bring focus to your business?
When we say we want focus, what we most often mean is “I want to keep my efforts pointed in the right direction and I want to be pointed in that direction often.” Focus comes from two sources:
1. Mission
If you don’t have a solid mission and goals, there is no “right direction.” The number one place focus comes from is being very clear on your mission. What do you intend to do? Who do you serve? What are the objectives that you’re built to solve? If you’re not sure of your mission, how will you know what to focus on?
2 Strategy
If you don’t know HOW to get what you want (mission), what will you focus on? The number two place focus comes from relates to knowing what to do and how to do it – strategy. You might have the mission to build a business that matters or become the industry leader. But what does that look like? And how will you achieve that? Knowing what to do and how to do it is the second key to focus.
FOCUS = Mission + Strategy
That’s really what it takes to have focus.
Here’s the truth: You fail at focus because whatever you are trying to focus on either isn’t important enough to you (MISSION) or you don’t have a clue how to get it (STRATEGY) or you are not disciplined enough to pursue it (EXECUTION).
If you want to explode your focus, you could follow this very simple (but not easy) recipe:
1. Define your MISSION/GOAL
2. Create a STRATEGY (and if you don’t know HOW, hire me!)
3. EXECUTE your strategy without compromise!
