The attributes of a soulmate are numerous and beyond what anyone can truly seek. The difficult task however lies in identifying your soulmate which may be a herculean task. This is because finding someone who truly shares your beliefs and mindset can feel almost impossible. Your mindset as a man may differ from that of the woman you intend to be with. What truly matters in this case is to embrace your differences and make it into a harmonious and unique whole.

A soulmate according to Wikipedia is a person with whom one feels a deep or natural affinity. This affinity may involve similarity, love, romance, comfort, intimacy, sexuality, sexual activity, spirituality, compatibility, and trust. 

The concept of soulmate is also rooted in Judaism. It is believed that a soul is split into two halves- one male and the other female. Both are sent into the world where they are united as a single soul –-soulmates. Similarly, Plato, in his Symposium observes that:

“Love is born into every human being; it calls back the halves of our original nature together; it tries to make one out of two and heal the wound of human nature. Each of us, then, is a ‘matching half’ of a human whole…and each of us is always seeking the half that matches him.”

Furthermore, the poet, Samuel Coleridge in 1822, used the word ‘soulmate’ in a letter where he said:

To be happy in Married Life … you must have a Soul-mate.

Also, Richard Bach,  an American writer said, 

“A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are.”

With the foregoing, it is evident that soulmate exists. The next question will be what are the attributes of a soulmate?

1. Chemistry 

Chemistry is one of the attributes of a soulmate. If a woman is your soulmate, you feel a strong bond or connection with her. When you feel as though she has been a part of you all along, despite only you recently meeting, it is a strong sign she may be your soulmate. Sometimes, the chemistry could be physical, sexual mental and even spiritual. When you seem to have a strong connection to your opposite sex, if feeling lingers and refuses to fade, it could be that you‘ve found your soulmate.

2. Loyalty

The first step in bonding or even in friendship is loyalty. A soulmate is a loyal person. When and if you find a lady who is loyal, you shouldn’t waste time looking elsewhere for love when it’s already right in front of you.

3. Compassionate 

A soulmate is a compassionate person.  A  woman who can put herself in your shoes is someone to be close to. She will understand you, feel your pains, share in your defeats and rejoice in your wins. Such an attribute is not common but should you find it in a lady, you have found a soulmate.

4. No Pretence 

If you have to pretend, lie and take on roles you are not suited for before a lady, she is definitely not your soulmate. Your soulmate will accept you just the way you are. When you find a soulmate, she will accept you and you do not need to pretend or become what you are not.

5. Compatibility 

If you can understand your woman and she can likewise understand you, you are soulmates. However, this does not mean that you will agree on everything. Soulmates are different individuals with different methods of reasoning but who are connected by shared values brought together by affection. In other words, your soulmate will be compatible with you. Even if you disagree, it is not with the mindset to see who wins but how you can both move forward.

6. Openness and Honesty

Another attribute of a soulmate is openness and honesty. Because both of you are connected in more ways than one, there is a huge tendency that she will be open and honest about herself and feelings with you. If a lady is not open and is economical with the truth, she is definitely not your soulmate.

Finding a soulmate who has the attributes shared about is not found through mindless wondering. Rather, it is found through observation, determination and simplicity. When you eventually find your soulmate, you should keep the love burning.
