Dangerous Habits to Watch Out for
By Publisher
1. Smoking
Smoking does a lot of damage to the lungs, including potentially causing lung cancer. Excessive smoking quickens the occasions of lung disease in a habitual smoker, who would not have an idea of what danger they are causing themselves until the damage is eventually done.2. Excessive eating
Especially the consumption of junk food, as it is called, which results in the storage of fats in the body, blood vessels, heart, etc. leading to obesity and other weight-related diseases. This is capable of shortening a person’s life span. It is also important to note that the jaw joint is tender and could become frail in the event of frictional movement from excessive eating or chewing of food substances. When suppressed to much pressure, arthritis sets in just like it’s found in other joint locations in the body.3. Exercise
People who do sedentary (in a seating position) work always tend to gain unhealthy weight, aside from the fact that their body system does not burn off unwanted calories stored in the body over time. A good balance of work-rest-exercise makes for a favourable lifestyle, thus helping to maintain healthy living.4. Reading under strong light rays
Reading in the sun or exposure to strong light from a lamp can damage the optic nerve of the eye resulting in eye problems. Soft light is recommended for reading and it should not be directed on the surface being read, so as to prevent strong and sharp reflections into the eye. The light should be kept at a distance where it does not put the eye under the pressure of straining the optic nerve.5. Irregular sleep
A normal rest period is eight hours. After each day’s work, it is mandatory for you to observe a rest routine to regain lost energy due to previous work done.Enough sleep offers the brain due time for hibernating. If not, the brain becomes stressed and other associated discomfort set in. Common experiences such as heavy heartbeat, anxiety, shaking of limbs (hands and legs), vibrations in the head, echoes in the ear, heaviness in the chest, etc are noticed over time.6. Talking while eating
This is as dangerous as attempting suffocation. During eating and swallowing, the fleshy flap at the back of the mouth overlapping the trachea closes so as to disallow unwanted dropping of food particles into the air pipe (trachea). However, if a person is eating and talking at the same time, it could permit food particles into the trachea, which is capable of causing serious injury or even death in severe cases.7. Delaying Urination
This is capable of damaging the bladder over continuous unhealthy practice. Once you feel the push of urine, respond immediately.8. Excessive Shouting
This can cause stress in the vocal cord and hence, impede smooth speech afterwards. If not managed, it could lead to voice loss or a mumbling voice tone. Endeavour to speak at a moderate tone which puts no pressure on the vocal cord. Also, abstain from areas of noise or loud sounds which make you shout while speaking. This is also relevant to hearing too. Keep a distant position from loudspeakers or sound sources too loud for convenience.Discover more from Masculine Digest
