Are You MAD?

By Publisher

On my way to work one morning, I saw two full-grown men came up against each other. Obviously, one had scratched the other’s car with his vehicle. In the terrible Lagos traffic, the loud voice of one of them rang out, “Are you MAD?”I tried putting myself in the other man’s shoes as to how to answer the question: “Are you MAD?” Have you ever been asked this question before? If you haven’t, I do not know whether to congratulate you or to sympathise with you.If I were to be the other man, I would have simply said “Yes”. Please don’t run away from me. I do not want your sympathy neither do I need your empathy. It serves no particular purpose in this situation. If you have never been asked if you are MAD – directly or indirectly –  then you are probably not making any difference. If you are, you will know what it takes to be MAD!There are people that were MAD before now. Albert Einstein is considered one of the world’s greatest scientists. He was said to have regretted ever studying physics, instead of becoming a watch maker. This is one of the people the world considered MAD. He was MAD, that was why he was able to revolutionise the study of physics when he singlehandedly decided the direction of the World War II with his E=mc2, which led to the invention of the atomic bomb which settled the matter of the war. If this is not MADness, then the meaning of the word is obscure. You do not have to always be who others want you to be. When someone expects you to always do what they expect of you then in that case you are not MAD. You are not MAD if you are a conformist. You are not MAD if you think like others in the crowd. Real MADness is being unique and different. If you are not, then you are not MAD.When you attempt to do things that others have not done or were not able to do, you are considered MAD. When you thrive on the storm and in the unfamiliar, they say you are MAD.Being MAD is actually Making A Difference!
