4 Ways to Maintain Your Wardrobe on a Simple Budget

By Publisher

Maintaining an up-to-date wardrobe is a challenge for many men because of the financial commitment involved. As a man, you probably feel there are more significant matters to commit your funds to, but this shouldn’t stop you from updating your wardrobe and replacing worn out shirts. Neglecting your wardrobe translates to having limited apparels to select from when you need to attend events. This takes away your power of choice as you are left with no option than to make do with what you have. You don’t want to be in such a state.

It is important that you update your wardrobe with new apparels because most fabrics do expire. Every clothing item that gets weak and torn in your wardrobe reduces your level of choice. Once a shirt is weak and frail, it should be replaced. This becomes much easier when you budget for it.

Here are simple tips on how you can maintain your wardrobe on a low budget:

1. Plan for it

No matter the level of your income, you can update your closet by purchasing one or two apparels at predetermined intervals. This is not always easy; it takes discipline to make it happen. There will be times where your commitment to updating your wardrobe will be questioned by other commitments. Your ability to remain resilient and focused will make the difference. Dwight D. Eisenhower, a former American president, said “Plans are nothing; planning is everything.” Your plan serves as a roadmap to what you want to do, but discipline helps you pull it through.

2. Direct replacement

You can also update your wardrobe by direct replacement. Direct replacement is when you get an immediate replacement for worn out apparels as soon as you notice they’ve become frail. Men under this category only buy apparel as replacement when necessary. But the disadvantage is that at the point when your apparels need to be changed, you may commit your finances to something else. And as that repeats itself, the apparels in your wardrobe keep reducing, so you have fewer options to choose from.

3. Random Purchase

Some men don’t wait until their apparels wear out before replacing them. Men in this category are never short of options to choose from. They buy clothes at random as long as they believe they need it. They see updating their wardrobe as a commitment and they go out of their way to fulfil it. Men under this category can’t keep a track on their budget. But they achieve the same purpose of updating their wardrobe without adversely affecting their finances.

4. Instalment Plan

Paying in instalments is another way to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Some boutiques promote this kind of payment plan for organisations or individuals depending on their terms. This pattern has payment spread over a certain period. And when the payment is completed, the customer collects his clothes. This is not widely practiced in most parts of the world.

Contrary to popular ideology, you don’t need to have lots of money to have a decent wardrobe. You can start with a simple budget.
