12 Reasons You Should Quit Taking Alcohol
By Julius
A study revealed that alcohol is a toxic chemical that has two toxins the body works very hard to eliminate. These toxins are: acetaldehyde and acetic acid.
Alcohol consumption has become a norm among men in our society. You are seen as a real man when you consume alcohol but a weak one when you don’t. A good number of men do not realize the potential harm inherent in alcohol consumption.
Alcohol is a colourless, flammable liquid that comes in various forms and which is dangerous to the body. It causes the liver to work extra time in taking alcohol out of the body. The continuous use of alcohol impacts negatively on other organs of the body, making it weak until it is completely destroyed. In this article, I will be sharing seven consequences of alcohol consumption.
- Falls and Accidents
Alcohol consumption can get you drunk especially when you take more than you can control. When you are drunk you are susceptible to falling and even being involved in an accident. Take an example of a drunk driver, he is likely to be involved in an accident because he is not in his right state of mind.
2. Hangover
A hangover refers to a set of symptoms that occurs as a consequence of drinking too much. Some of these consequences include headaches, increased blood pressure, nausea, stomach ache, fatigue, weakness, thirst, muscle aches and so on.
3.Vomiting
Someone who has had too much to drink is likely to vomit, especially if they are new to drinking.
4. Irrational Behaviour
A drunk person is likely to act irrationally because he has lost full control of himself. Several instances abound of men who get drunk and lie down to sleep in the most embarrassing places outside of the home.
5. Aggravated anger
Some men who get drunk suddenly become violent and they begin to harm members of their family especially the wife for no just cause. These men tend to regret their actions after the alcohol wears off completely.
6. Passing out
Another negative consequence of taking alcohol is that the victim may pass out, losing his consciousness.
7. Giving out sensitive information
Many drunk men have regretted their actions of being drunk. While they were under the influence of alcohol, they have given out sensitive information about themselves, their family and their business which has been used against them in the process.
8. Diabetes
Those who indulge in too much alcohol consumption are at risk of diabetes because the blood glucose (sugar) level has shot up and insulin cannot be produced or processed.
9. Hypertension
Alcohol consumption can cause hypertension because the more the level of alcohol consumption increases, the narrower the bell vessels become. This will affect the flow of blood.
10. Impotence
Taking too much alcohol can make it hard to keep or have an erection because alcohol reduces the production of progesterone. It can also interfere with the messengers of the brain that tell the penis to fill with blood.
11. Stroke
Too much alcohol consumption can damage the liver which helps to produce substances that help the blood to clot. When the liver is not able to do this, it increases the potential of having a stroke because there is bleeding in the brain.
12. Alcohol Use Disorder
This happens when you are unable to control your alcohol intake even when it is affecting your body. This condition is called alcoholism. In this case, a man becomes addicted to alcohol to the point that withdrawing from it causes some problems to his body. Hence, he tries to keep up with its use which completely wrecks his body and may even lead to death.
Conclusion
Alcohol consumption exposes its users to all kinds of health and social problems. The best preventative measure is to completely avoid the intake of alcohol. As the Bible says, wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise (Prov 20:1).
